New York subway beefs up security after surge in city violence

New York (US), March 8 (EFE).- Metropolitan Transportation Authority officers conducted bag and backpack checks at many of New York's subway stops after New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced Wednesday the deployment of hundreds of State Police and National Guard officers to help patrol the New York subway network in response to rising crime.
