WORK WEEK

Yolanda Díaz defends the move towards working time flexibility

Valencia, May 27 (EFE), (Camera: Eusebio Calatayud).- The second vice president of the Government and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Diaz, has claimed this Friday the need to go towards flexibility in working time, "Almost labor law is born from the hand of the discussion around working time. How much we work, how we work, how work and the working day and productivity operate, you know that we have a different negative productivity differential with the European Union, and the working time and the presence of the same, and the lengthening of the day is one of the factors that is very studied, and along with the time of work is the time of life".

Diaz, who has participated in Valencia in an international summit on the four-day work week, has indicated that beyond the 32-hour workday there are "many other manifestations" to be explored, such as leave for people with dependents or breaks for training or travel with the guarantee of the job.

"We are talking about the sovereignty of one's own time," said the minister, who insisted that several aspects of the working day must be contemplated that have to do with the reduction of working time, which must be "in weekly computation and without salary reduction", but above all with flexibility.
