New Year holidays boost tourism in China

Harbin, Dec 3 (EFE/EPA).- China's tourism sector experienced a remarkable surge during the New Year holidays, according to recent data.

During the three-day holiday, the country recorded an impressive 135 million domestic tourist trips, a substantial increase of 155 percent over the previous year.

This upturn in tourism activity translated into a considerable increase in tourism revenue, which reached 79.73 billion yuan (about 10.18 billion euros).

Data from the Ministry of Transport also highlighted the heavy use of China's transport network, with more than 128 million passenger journeys recorded during the holiday period.

This increase in tourism and travel demonstrates a strong recovery and growing demand in China's domestic tourism sector. (Camera: WU HAO).
