Wong sworn in as Singapore PM to close chapter on Lee dynasty

Singapore, May 15 (EFE).- Lawrence Wong was sworn in as Singapore's prime minister on Wednesday, ending both Lee Hsien Loong's two-decade rule and the Lee dynasty's era in power.

Wong’s inauguration marks the first time that the city state will not be led a member of the Lee family.

Under the leadership of Lee Kuan Yew, the so-called “father” of the country who ruled from its foundation in 1959 until 1990 and his son and successor, Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore became one of the most prosperous countries on the planet.
