Women work tirelessly in Chiloé "saving" seeds.-

Chiloé (Chile), Mar 12 (EFE).- In Chiloé, a unique territory for its biodiversity, traditions and ancestral agricultural practices that have been recognized by the FAO, the potato is more than the basis of any food: it is a way of life.

It is estimated that before the arrival of the Spanish there were a thousand varieties, of which about 250 have survived the passage of time, thanks to generations and generations of "seed keepers".
