EC will consider Venice Commission's view on Spain's amnesty law

Brussels, Apr 18 (EFE) - The European Commission (EC) said Thursday that it will take into account the opinion of the Venice Commission on the Spanish amnesty law to decide whether the law complies with European standards once the political process in Spain has been completed.

In a debate on the amnesty law in the European Parliament's Civil Liberties Committee, the EC's Director for Rule of Law, Fundamental Rights and. Democracy, Julien Mousnier, reiterated that the EU executive is still analysing the law and will conclude this assessment "based on the legislation that is adopted" to determine whether it complies with European law.
