WikiLeaks founder Assange arrives in Australia after US court decision

Canberra, Jun 26 (EFE/EPA).- Julian Assange arrived in Canberra, Australia, on Wednesday, after formalising his release from US justice.

The WikiLeaks founder landed on a private plane after appearing in court in the Northern Mariana Islands, where he finalised his release from 12 years of confinement in the UK.

Charter flight VJT199 landed at about 19:40 local time at Canberra International Airport after a seven-hour flight from Saipan.

Assange was met by his wife, Stella Assange, and his two children, with a press conference scheduled for later in the evening. It is Assange's first media appearance since his release from a high-security UK prison on Monday. (Camera: HANDOUT).
