WGA strike puts Hollywood on hold after negotiations fail

Los Angeles, May 2 (EFE).- Shouting "Netflix, no chill, it’s time to pay your bills!", thousands of writers for TV and film productions on Tuesday took to the streets of Los Angeles and New York City on the first day of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which will halt the industry indefinitely.

On Monday, the WGA announced the go-ahead of the strike after failing to reach an agreement with studios and streamers under the umbrella of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) for a new, fairer contract. (Camera: MÓNICA RUBALCAVA).

-I'm worried that they won't pay us. It's simple - even El Chapo paid his employees, right? They want us to work for long periods without pay and for very little salary… They don't want to guarantee fair treatment or pay us for our ideas. This concerns me because it's a basic principle in this country that if you work hard, you should receive fair pay.
