SOCCER SPAIN-BRAZIL

Vinícius breaks down crying when talking about racism

Madrid, March 25 (EFE).- The Brazilian Vinícius Junior burst into tears at the press conference prior to Tuesday's friendly match between Spain and Brazil, when asked about the racism he has suffered in some fields in Spain and which, he said, makes him have "less desire to play."

STATEMENTS BY VINÍCIUS JUNIOR, FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE BRAZILIAN NATIONAL TEAM.

Absolutely, because there are so many people in soccer, so many better players than me who have come through here and I want to make sure that people don't change, that they can evolve, that they can improve and that we can have equality, right, that in the very near future there can be fewer cases of racism and that black people can have a normal life like everyone else. And I want to keep fighting just for that. Because if it were like I said before, if it were up to me, I would have given up, because I stay at home, nobody will swear at me, nobody will do anything to me. I go to matches with my head focused on the game so that I can do the best for my team and sometimes it's not always possible, so I have to concentrate a lot every day. I'm sorry because I just want to play soccer, I just want to play, I just want to do everything for my club and my family.
