VENEZUELA HOLY WEEK

Venezuela's largest favela hosts re-enactment of Passion of Christ during Holy Week

Caracas, Apr 7 (EFE).- On Friday, more than 700 residents of Caracas participated in the traditional re-enactment of the Via Crucis, organised by neighbours and religious leaders in Petare, the largest favela in Venezuela.

The event, which has been held on the steep slopes of the neighbourhood for over 30 years, commemorates the Passion of Christ.

In the streets of the Caracas district, a group of actors portrayed the final moments of Christ's life, as narrated in the Bible, to the emotional response of hundreds of onlookers who were moved to tears by the performance. (Camera: IVÁN CARDENAS).
