SOMALIA VACCINATION

Vaccination in Somalia: the challenge of reaching every corner of the country

Dollow, Somalia, March 20 (EFE/EPA).- (Camera: Daniel Irungu) If people cannot get close to the vaccines, bring the vaccines closer to the people: this is the motto followed by nurse Ahmed Garad and his colleagues in their daily work to immunize all Somalis, also in the most remote places of the country or controlled by jihadists.

"We start the day by collecting the vaccines from the hospital in a small refrigerator. Then, we pack what we need for that day or the entire week and we get into the cars," Garad tells EFE from the Kaharey displaced persons camp, outside the town of Dollow, southwestern Somalia.
