Port-au-Prince, Mar 20 (EFE).- On Monday, violence continued unabated in Haiti as the country anxiously awaited the formation of the agreed transitional presidential council.

In Pétion-Ville, a suburb of Port-au-Prince, the stark reality of the situation became evident with the appearance of dead bodies in the streets in unclear circumstances involving either shootings or police action against suspected bandits.

The recent increase in violence, affecting public institutions, private businesses and infrastructure, underlines the seriousness of the situation.

Despite the state of emergency and prolonged curfews, Haitians' daily lives have been severely disrupted, impacting access to essential services and education.
