Twenty-nine male gazes mark changing face of women at Bellas Artes in Cordoba

Cordoba (Spain), May 5 (EFE) - The evolution of women from the mid-19th century until the overthrow of the Second Republic is reflected in an exhibition in which the Fine Arts Museum of Cordoba presents, through the eyes of twenty-nine male artists, the "change in the position of women in society" that occurred over time until it came to an end in 1936, according to the director of the art gallery, José María Domenech.

The exhibition 'The female image in the museum (1850-1936)' presents 42 drawings, engravings and paintings and one sculpture, all by men, which takes a look at the different treatment in art of the image of women, as their role in society has changed.
