Turkish businessman adopts dozens of stray animals

Istanbul, May 17 (EFE/EPA).- (Camera: Erdem Sahin) A dozen and a half dogs, a horse, a donkey, 46 seagulls, and three cats. They all live with Mert Akkök, a 48-year-old businessman who takes in injured or sick animals in his garden in Istanbul.

At first it was just dogs, Mert tells Efe, while the little donkey, called Kadife (Velvet), tries to take a glass of tea from his hand.

He was then living in a flat in the center of Istanbul and would sometimes bring home an injured or sick stray dog to take care of it.
