Tunisian opposition defies fear with demonstration against Kais Said's re-election

Tunisia, Oct 4 (EFE).- The Tunisian opposition called on hundreds of people on Friday, "despite the climate of fear", to show their rejection on the last day of the electoral campaign against the authoritarian drift of Kais Said, who is seeking re-election in the presidential elections this Sunday.

Statements by Romdhane Ben Amor, spokesperson for the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights: "It is an acceptable number of protesters in a context of great fear and aggression, especially after Said's speech yesterday, which threatens opponents who have a critical view of the political and electoral process, but the mobilization of young people must be highlighted,"

Statements by Mustapha Benahmed, Xxdeputy: "There is a small resistance, but in the future we can build around that resistance. We have to start over because there has been a decline in militancy. There has been a decline in political and associative movements. It needs time to come back and to mobilize more people."
