Tunisia records declining water reserves due to drought and high temperatures

Manouba (Tunisia), Mar 21 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Mohamed Messara) Tunisia is suffering from a severe drought and dwindling water reserves in its dams.

The last three years have been characterized by high temperatures and low rainfall.

According to the latest data published by the General Directorate of Dams and Major Hydraulic Works, the reserves of Tunisian dams amounted to 543,483 cubic meters up to mid-December 2023, while the average reserves of the last three years, over the same period, were 859,791 cubic meters, thus registering a decrease of more than 300,000 cubic meters.
