Tulum prepares to protect Mayan zone from Hurricane Beryl

Cancun, Mexico, Jul 4 (EFE).- An operations centre began operating on Thursday in the seaside resort of Tulum, with the presence of national military and civil protection authorities, as well as the state government.

The centre was set up to manage emergencies in the states of Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo, due to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Beryl, which is heading towards the coast of Quintana Roo, in the Mexican Caribbean.

Although the hurricane's path has recently shifted further north of Tulum and away from the Mayan zone, it is still expected to affect beaches near the Tulum archaeological site. (Camera: LOURDES CRUZ).
