Tokyo, Feb 12 (EFE/EPA).- The Nikkei index of the Tokyo Stock Exchange reached a mid-session gain of 2.44 percent, boosted by buying in technology stocks after a new all-time high on the New York Stock Exchange the previous day. On Tuesday, the Tokyo Stock Exchange's main gauge, the Nikkei, went into the mid-session break higher, advancing 901.4 points to 37,798.89. The broader Topix index, which includes the largest market capitalization stocks in the first section, rose 1.85%, or 47.4 points, to 2,605.28.The Tokyo Stock Exchange showed a strong uptrend from Tuesday's opening, following Monday's closure for a bank holiday, and after the Nikkei momentarily hit the 37,000-point mark on Friday for the first time in 34 years, a milestone it well surpassed in early trading today.
