Tokyo Stock Exchange rises 2.67% as weaker yen boosts Japanese exporters

Tokyo, Mar 18 (EFE/EPA).- The Tokyo Stock Exchange saw significant gains on Monday, with its main index, the Nikkei, rising by 2.67% thanks to the yen's weakness, which favourably impacts Japan's major exporters, alongside bargain hunting by investors.

The Nikkei closed up by 1,032.80 points, reaching 39,740.44, while the broader Topix index also saw a rise of 1.92%, ending at 2,721.99 points.

The market's surge was influenced by the yen trading in the range of 148.90 to 149.33 against the dollar during Tokyo's trading hours, encouraging gains in sectors like maritime transport, insurance, and transportation equipment. (Camera: FRANCK ROBICHON).
