Therapy dogs soothe grieving after one year of Uvalde mass shooting

Uvalde, May 28 (EFE).- They may not be expert trauma psychologists, but their mere presence manages to soothe tense environments and alleviate sadness. These remarkable beings are known as "comfort dogs" or therapy dogs, and they play a crucial role in various settings, including the aftermath of mass shootings in the United States.

This year alone, they have been present in several locations, such as Monterey Park, where a man tragically took the lives of 11 people in a dance studio in January. They were also deployed to Allen, Texas, where another assailant claimed the lives of eight individuals in a mall just three weeks ago.

Recently, a group of approximately ten golden retrievers arrived in Uvalde, Texas, to mark the one-year anniversary of the devastating attack on Robb Elementary School. This solemn occasion served as a reminder of the tragic loss of 19 children and two teachers. (Camera: PAULA ESCALADA).
