Thailand on defensive alert of COVID-19 ahead of traditional New Year

Bangkok, Apr 7 (EFE).- Thai officials continued to be on alert Thursday to prevent a wave of the Omicron variant ahead of the upcoming traditional Songkran festival, which will begin on Apr. 13.

Thailand has recently reported a sharp surge of more than 25,000 daily COVID-19 infections, occasionally approaching the 100 fatalities.

The Public Health Ministry announced a transition plan to declare the COVID-19 pandemic as an endemic disease by Jul.1, 2022. (Camera: RUNGROJ YONGRIT).
