Thailand attracts millions of tourists, yet short of pre-pandemic figures

Bangkok, Dec 31 (EFE/EPA).- Thailand welcomed more than 27 million tourists in 2023, a figure in line with government targets but still below the levels recorded before the swine flu pandemic.

Thailand, one of the world's most visited countries where tourism contributes significantly to the economy, received 27,252,488 foreign tourists between January 1 and December 24, government spokesman Chai Wacharonke announced on Saturday.

These figures are within the expected range for the year, which was estimated at between 25 and 28 million visitors.

The largest number of tourists came from Malaysia, with over 4.4 million, followed by China, with over 3.4 million, South Korea, with approximately 1.6 million, and Russia, with over 1.4 million. (Camera: RUNGROJ YONGRIT).
