Syria's audiovisual industry bounces back after war's shock

Damascus (Syria), May 25 (EFE) - The production of Syrian television series, once a regional benchmark, has begun to take off again after the setback suffered as a result of the war that began thirteen years ago in the country, which hit this sector as hard as many others.

The armed conflict led to a brain drain, with the emigration of many actors, directors, scriptwriters and technicians, and investment in this type of work became a risky gamble in which most of the country's channels decided not to gamble their money any more.

Rasha Sharbatji, film director:

Now the issue of publicity has broken down a bit because of the Syrian relations that have started quietly with the Gulf. Which is the number one and biggest market. And this is what makes us optimistic. They really want to adapt the jobs, a number of production jobs were done and they were all taken in ‘Shahid’. Four or five jobs were taken for ‘Shahid’.
