Supporters, opponents of "Joy of the Bull" festival protest in Spain's Medinaceli

Medinaceli, Nov 16 (EFE).- Opponents and supporters of the centuries-old festival bull festival "Toro Jubilo" (Joy of the Bull) in the medieval Spanish town of Medinaceli, in the province of Soria, gathered on Saturday in separate protests at different times of the afternoon to express their respective positions.

The festival was scheduled for Saturday, but suspended by a court order.

The controversial Toro Jubilo is a centuries-old event where a bull is set alight with burning tar balls attatched to its horns, symbolizing the town's deep-rooted connection to its Celtiberian origins. (Camera: WIFREDO GARCÍA ÁLVARO).
