Students protest and government desists from cutting education in Costa Rica

San José, Aug 16 (EFE), (Camera: Douglas Marín) .- Thousands of university students in Costa Rica demonstrated peacefully on Tuesday to protest against possible cuts, while the Government announced, after a meeting with the rectors, that it desisted in its intention to reduce the budget of public universities by 23%.

Students and professors from the University of Costa Rica (UCR), the National University, the National Technical University, the Technological Institute of Costa Rica and the State Distance University, walked from the UCR headquarters to the Presidential House.
