Sri Lanka reports over 8,000 cases of dengue in first two months of 2022

Colombo, Feb 17 (EFE/EPA).- Sri Lanka reported over 8,000 cases of dengue in the first two months of this year, according to official figures, with approximately 42 percent of cases from Colombo and the city's suburbs.

Sri Lankan Health officials said that they have already issued a red alert in 60 areas in Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts due to the high risk of the spread of dengue.

Authorities have also advised the public to seek immediate medical treatment if the fever persists for more than 48 hours. (Camera: CHAMILA KARUNARATHNE).
