NEPAL MOUNTAINEERING

Sherpa guide Kami Rita arrives in Kathmandu after scaling Mt Everest for record 28th time

Kathmandu, May 25 (EFE/EPA).- Nepali climber Kami Rita Sherpa was welcomed by his family and friends on Thursday at the Kathmandu Airport after he reclaimed his record for most Mount Everest ascents by climbing the world's tallest peak for the 28th time on Tuesday.

Kami Rita's mountaineering career began in 1992 when he began working as a porter for an Everest expedition team. But it was not until two years later that he climbed Mount Everest for the first time at the age of 24.

Since then, he has scaled the mountain almost every year. (Camera: NARENDRA SHRESTHA).
