Sending troops to Ukraine would have ‘tragic consequences’ for Nato, Putin warns

Moscow, Feb 29 (EFE/EPA).- (Camera: Sergei Ilnitsky) Russian president Vladimir Putin warned Nato on Thursday that deploying allied troops to Ukraine would have "tragic" consequences, while dismissing accusations that Moscow is considering attacking Europe as "nonsense".

Putin was speaking during the annual state of the nation address to both houses of the Russian parliament.

"We remember the fate of those who once sent their contingents to the territory of our country. But now the consequences for possible interventionists will be much more tragic," Putin said.
