Sculpture symbolising allegiance to Russia removed from Kyiv city centre

Kyiv (Ukraine), Apr 30 (EFE/EPA).- A sculptural composition in honour of the 'Pereyaslav Rada' has been removed from the centre of Kyiv. The monument, a symbol of the Soviet era and which until now was located under the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People, will be moved to the Aviation Museum.

The 'Pereiaslav Rada', or Pereyaslav Agreement, was a meeting held in the Ukrainian town of Pereiaslav in January 1654 for a ceremonial oath of allegiance of the Cossacks to the Russian Tsar.
