Safety of Fukushima spill fails to convince entire scientific community | Video

Tokyo, Jul 5 (EFE).- Japan's plan to discharge tons of purified radioactive water from the damaged Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific causes divided opinion in the scientific community, where there are voices that believe the safety guarantees provided by the Japanese authorities as insufficient.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) gave its final approval to the spill Tuesday, concluding that after more than two years of evaluation, the approach is "consistent with relevant international safety standards" and would have "a negligible radiological impact on people and the environment".
