Russia extends arrest of US journalist Gershkovich until end of March

Moscow (Russia), Jan 26 (EFE/EPA).- (Camera: Yuri Kochetkov) The Lefortovo Court in Moscow on Friday extended the pre-trial detention of American journalist Evan Gershkovich, accused of espionage in Russia, until 30 March.

The court's press service, quoted by TASS news agency, said: "Gershkovich's detention is extended for a period of two months, i.e. until 30 March 2024," the court's press service said.

Gershkovich, 33, was arrested in late March 2023 in Yekaterinburg, a city in the Urals, and on 7 April was formally charged with espionage by the Federal Security Service (FSB, formerly the KGB).
