Ruble depreciates against dollar and euro to March 2022 levels | Video

Moscow (Russia), Jun 6 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Maxim Shipenkov) Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday played down the ruble's depreciation against the dollar and the euro, stressing that this is a process that has taken place before without affecting Russia's macroeconomic stability.

"We observe the oscillation: the course of currencies rises, the rouble falls. But let's remember: we have seen this several times before. And then there were ebbs. And we know perfectly well that behind these rises are largely speculative games, which perhaps cannot be ruled out now," he said at his daily press conference.

However, he noted that "the economic indicators are actually better than expected, as was said at the recent meeting between the head of the government, Mikhail Mishustin, and the president, Vladimir Putin".
