Rome remembers Judge Falcone, the hero of the anti-mafia fight

Rome (Italy), May 23 (EFE), (Camera: Alvaro Padilla).- Italy today remembers Giovanni Falcone with emotion on the thirtieth anniversary of his murder, a key moment in the history of Italy and in the fight against the mafia that is commemorated above all in his city, Palermo, but also in the rest of the country with multiple tributes to the judge who broke the wall of silence that protected the bosses of "Cosa Nostra".

STATEMENTS BY VINCENZO LINARELLO, PRESIDENT OF THE GOEL GOEL GROUP OF CALABRIAN COOPERATIVES AND ORGANIZER OF THE MARCH.

1.- "Falcone was a symbol of the fight against the mafia, especially the fight against the institutional mafia, and an important symbol that should help us today to avoid the same mistakes."

2.- "The mafia murder of Falcone and his escort was preceded by a shameful institutional isolation. The same thing that is happening now with (Italian magistrate Nicola) Gratteri."

3.- "When Falcone was assassinated, the demonstrations happened later. Now we carry them out to prevent. We have learned or at least the civil society, but I am afraid that the institutions have not."

4.- "Falcone and Borsellino, as well as so many other magistrates who fell in the fight against the mafia, are an example and role model for all honest magistrates who want to change things and risk their lives every day in the fight against Mafia".
