PERU PROTESTS

Protesters in Lima on Independence Day

Lima, Jul 28 (EFE), (Camera: Edgar Ore) - Demonstrators against and in favor of Peruvian President Pedro Castillo are mobilizing Thursday in downtown Lima on the day the president will address a message to Congress on his first year in office.

The National Police has stationed itself in several points of the historic center to avoid traffic congestion due to the mobilizations, which congregate dozens of people, and also an eventual confrontation between the opposing groups.

The opponents to Castillo gathered this morning outside the Palace of Justice and went carrying Peruvian flags to the San Martin square and then to the Congress, where Castillo will enter to give his message to the nation.
