PAKISTAN PROTEST

Protest against "one-document regime" near Afghan-Pakistan border

Chaman (Pakistan), Oct 21 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Akhter Gulfam) Traders gather to protest after Pakistani authorities introduced the 'one-document regime' policy. This regulation, which would come into effect from November 2023, requires all Afghan nationals to present a valid passport and visa when entering Pakistan.

This mainly affects tribals in southern Afghanistan, who regularly cross the border for work or family visits using a local document called a 'tazkira'. Amnesty International has criticised Pakistan's treatment of Afghan refugees and called for international attention to their plight.
