POPE EASTER

Pope warns of 'winds of war' in Easter Sunday speech

Vatican City, Mar 31 (EFE).- (Camera: Handout) Pope Francis paid tribute to the victims of the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine in his Easter address on Sunday.

"Let us not allow the winds of war to blow ever stronger over Europe and the Mediterranean," he told the more than 60,000 people gathered in St Peter’s square in the Vatican for his traditional Easter Sunday blessing.

God "opens the doors of life, those doors that we continually close with the wars that proliferate in the world," Francis said.

"War is always an absurdity and a defeat. Let us not allow the winds of war to blow ever more strongly over Europe and the Mediterranean.
