SOUNDBITES OF POPE FRANCIS:

"Unfortunately, sad news continues to arrive from the Middle East. I reiterate my firm request for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. I express my deep sorrow for the volunteers killed while participating in the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza. I pray for them and their families and I renew my call for the exhausted and suffering civilian population to be allowed access to humanitarian aid and for the hostages to be immediately released. Let us avoid any responsible attempt to expand the conflict in the region and work to end this and other wars that continue to bring death and suffering to so many parts of the world. Let us pray and work tirelessly so that the weapons cease and peace reigns again."
