POPE AUDIENCE

Pope asks that the cry of war victims touch the hearts of those in power

Vatican City, Jan 31 (EFE) - (Camera: Antonello Nusca) Pope Francis today asked that "the cry of pain of the victims of wars," such as those in the Middle East and Ukraine, "touch the hearts of those responsible for nations and give rise to projects of peace," during the general audience held in the Paul VI Hall.

TRANSLATION:

1. Remembering the fallen in the two world wars, we now associate also the many, too many, civilians, unarmed victims of the wars that unfortunately continue to bloody our planet, as in the Middle East and Ukraine.

May their cry of pain touch the hearts of the leaders of nations and give rise to projects of peace.

2. It is a particularly tenebrous vice and is perhaps the simplest to individualize from a physical point of view. The person dominated by anger hardly manages to conceal this impetus. Anger is an unrestrained vice: it is capable of taking away our sleep and of making us continually plot in our mind, without being able to find a barrier for reasoning and thoughts.

3. It is a destructive vice in human relationships.

4. The vice would keep us awake in the dark, ruminating about our reasons and inexplicable mistakes that are never ours and always the other's.
