Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia detect their first Omicron case

Manila/Jakarta/Phnom Penh, Dec 15 (EFE/EPA).- Indonesian authorities Thursday reported the first case of the Covid-19 Omicron variant in the country on the heels of Cambodia and the Philippines on the previous day.

The Indonesian health ministry said in a statement that the Omicron-infected patient works as a cleaner in a hospital in Jakarta but did not mention whether he has a history of overseas travel.

The authorities of the world’s fourth most populated country, with 270 million inhabitants, added that they are awaiting the results of another five suspected cases, all of them foreign arrivals. (Camera: ARCHIVE).
