Novatas City, Feb 27 (EFE/EPA).- A Philippine court on Tuesday sentenced a policeman to four years in prison for the murder of a 17-year-old teenager during an operation, a case that highlights police violence in the Philippines in recent years.

The judge in Navotas Court, a town northwest of the metropolis of Manila, convicted former officer Gerry Maliban, who admitted to shooting Jerhode Baltazar on August 2 in Navotas, of manslaughter, the Philippine News Agency reported.

Maliban and five other officers were searching for a murder suspect when they encountered Baltazar and another person on a boat and ordered them to stop. (Camera: ROLEX DELA PENA).
