POPE PAPUA NEW GUINEA

In Papua New Guinea, Pope calls for resource equity, end to violence

Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea), Sep 7 (EFE) - Pope Francis met Saturday with the religious men and women of Papua New Guinea, of which 30% are Catholics, at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in the capital and comforted them in the face of the difficulties they encounter: “You are not alone,” he told them and encouraged them to take care of the marginalized.

“We are here and, even in spite of the challenges that are not lacking today, we go forward, without fear, knowing that we are not alone, because it is the Lord who acts in us and with us,” the pope told the religious who received him with great enthusiasm.
