Palestinians flee Rafah not knowing what will come next

Rafah (Gaza), May 7 (EFE) - Thousands of Palestinians are facing the difficult decision to leave the town of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, after a night of intense Israeli bombardment and while the parties to the conflict resume indirect negotiations in Cairo for a ceasefire.

Mona al Shij Ahmad

1. “You see, we have heard that everyone is leaving here and that warnings are being thrown out for people to leave the area, and so we have evacuated it, we are leaving here.”

2. “Safe area? There is no safe place here. As you can see... And not only us... Look at the whole world. What can we do? God is enough for us and He is the best solver of matters. [What is your message] I cannot forgive the Arab and Islamic people who promised us that they were going to help us and do negotiations, and look how far we have come.”

Sabha Um Talal

We came from Jabalia to Rafah because they said it was a safe area, then to Khan Younis. After all, it was supposed to be a safe area, and we came back here again, while there were attacks on every corner... What have we done? What have we done to deserve this? I swear we fled while the flames were eating our house because of falling missiles, we are civilian people not with Hamas or with anyone.... God is enough for us, and He is the best solver of matters”.
