COLOMBIA PROTESTS

Opposition protests erupt in Colombia against President's social reforms

Bogota, Jun 20 (EFE).- Opposition protests began across Colombia on Tuesday in response to social reforms proposed by the administration of President Gustavo Petro. Petro has been the subject of increasing controversy in recent weeks due to several scandals within his government.

The protests, dubbed the "March of the Majorities", are taking place across the country, with the largest demonstrations expected to take place in major cities such as Bogotá, Cali, Medellín, Barranquilla, and Bucaramanga.

The mass rallies highlight the growing discontent with the government's proposed reforms. It underlines the political polarisation of the country and the challenge President Petro faces in gaining top acceptance for his social reform agenda. (Camera: JUAN DIEGO LÓPEZ).
