Opposition moves ahead in Thailand election count

Bangkok (Thailand), May 14 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Narong Sangnak / Rungrok Yongrit) Thailand's polling stations closed at 17.00 local time (11.00 GMT) on Sunday after a busy day of general elections in which a record turnout is expected.

More than 52 million Thais were expected to go to the polls on Sunday in an election in which the pro-democracy opposition is the clear favourite and could take the government away from Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha, who has been in power for a decade.
