Nikkei tumbles to 15-month low on escalating tensions over Ukraine

Tokyo, Feb 24 (EFE/EPA).- The Nikkei stock index plunged to 15-month low on Thursday, as Russia’s president Vladimir Putin announced a "military operation" in eastern Ukraine.

The Nikkei 225 tumbled 478.79 points, or 1.81 percent, to close at 25,970.82, its lowest closing level since Nov. 20, 2020. (Camera: FRANCK ROBICHON).
