Nepalese police officers join International Yoga Day in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Jun 21 (EFE/EPA).- On International Yoga Day, a group of Nepali police officers participated in yoga exercises at the National Police Academy in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the global recognition of this day.

The United Nations (UN) declared June 21 as International Yoga Day after adopting a resolution proposed by the government of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. This global celebration highlights the benefits of yoga, a practise with physical, mental, and spiritual aspects that originated in India more than 5,000 years ago.

It also emphasises the role of healthy lifestyles in the pursuit of global health and well-being and provides a platform for communities around the world to learn, teach, and practise yoga. International Yoga Day in Nepal is part of the country's contribution to this global event, highlighting the widespread influence and importance of yoga in contemporary society.
