Nepal celebrates horse festival to drive away evil spirits

Kathmandu, Mar 21 (EFE/EPA).- Thousands of Nepalese people gathered on Tuesday to celebrate Ghode Jatra, the annual horse racing festival.

Ghode Jatra is celebrated on the new moon day of mid-March or early April annually in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Therefore, it is still believed that the clamour of horses’ hooves on Ghode Jatra keeps the demon spirit at bay and running of horses on this day is considered to be a good luck for the Nepalese people. (Camera: NARENDRA SHRESTHA).
