National Guard beefs up security on New York subway as violence rises

New York (US), March 7 (EFE).- Metropolitan Transportation Authority officers conducted bag and backpack checks at many New York subway stops after New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Wednesday the deployment of hundreds of state police and National Guard officers to help patrol New York's subway system in response to rising crime.
