Myanmar's military junta pardons over 3,300 prisoners to mark traditional New Year

Yangon, Apr 17 (EFE/EPA).- Myanmar's military junta Wednesday granted amnesty to 3,303 prisoners to mark the traditional Buddhist New Year holiday without revealing whether the order will affect political detainees.

The military authorities announced the pardon a day after saying they had moved deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi, 78, and ousted president Win Myint, 72, from prison to an undisclosed location due to high temperatures and their advanced age. (Camera: NYEIN CHAN NAING).
