Migration flows to Europe from Tunisia increased in 2023 | Video

Tunis, Dec 11 (EFE).- (Camera: Natalia Román Morte) The migratory route from Morocco to Europe was contained in 2023, while departures through the Mediterranean from Tunisia skyrocketed, and the Atlantic route from Senegal was reactivated, which is reinforcing its maritime borders in collaboration with Spain.

Until November 2,499 people died or disappeared in the Mediterranean (28,248 since 2014), according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This UN agency registered 431 deaths on the Atlantic route until October, a conservative figure considering that the mortality rate has an average of one victim for every 20 survivors, double that of the Mediterranean.
